Something old
Something new
Something borrowed
Every bride knows this rhyme and probably follows it.  But do you know the origin of this saying? And did you know that the rhyme should actually be:
'Something old, something new, something borrowed, something blue and a silver sixpence in your shoe'.

The custom of marriage is full of traditions and superstitions from all corners of the world.  Virtually every part of a wedding, from the engagement to the honeymoon, has a rich history of cultural roots, ancestry, and religious beliefs.

The word “wed” by the way is derived from the ancient Greek word for “pledge”.

Listed on this site are a few well known and other not so well known traditions.  And if you were wondering exactly what tradition means, according to the dictionary, traditions are the customs or ways of behaving that have continued in a group of people or society for a long time without changing.

So perhaps you might like to incorporate one or two of the old traditions into your wedding ceremony to make it that little more special.
