Brief Description: Access to the reference collections and guided tours are by appointment. The University of the Witwatersrand Zoology Museum is the only natural history museum in the city of Johannesburg. It contains the largest collection of embryological slides in the southern hemisphere - some 40 000 in all - while the total collection exceeds 60,000 specimens. It has a "hands on" feature where items such as feeding in vertebrates can be illustrated.
