Maccauvlei Orchards

The apple packing houses consist of two buildings with a storage capacity of 38,000 cubic feet each. The photograph below shows 350 cases containing forty thousand " Rome Beauty" apples - their weight being eight tons - being loaded up for dispatch to the Rand Cold Storage, Johannesburg. Many of the boxes used are made on the Estates from timber cut on the Company's plantation.
